Farm internship in NE Mass

We are looking for responsible, hard-working, enthusiastic apprentices
to assist with all aspects of our 23-acre farming operation.
Responsibilities include greenhouse work, field preparation,
transplanting, tractor cultivation, harvest and preparing produce for
our CSA, wholesale, restaurant and hunger relief accounts. We are a
production farm and are constantly seeking ways to maximize production,
increase of efficiency and improve our land stewardship. Apprentices are
expected to master use of our primary tillage and cultivating tractors.
Apprentices work closely with the farm manager on all aspects of
production. We are looking for individuals who are excited about
sustainable farming and who are up to the challenge of the physically
demanding schedule, tasks, and pace of the farm season.

Apprentice positions start in April and end in November.

Apprentice Qualifications:

Ability to handle physically strenuous, repetitious tasks in all weather
We work fast, so apprentices should possess the ability to work quickly,
and desire to learn to work faster
Good communication skills, sense of humor, upbeat attitude
A valid driver's license
Farming experience preferred

Apprentice Work Schedule:

April to November
Mondays-Fridays, 7AM - 5PM. One-hour lunch. Saturdays, 7AM to 12noon.
Rotating weekend responsibilities: One weekend a month for greenhouse,
fencing and irrigation chores. Comp time is not given for weekend chores.

Apprentice Compensation:

Stipend is $400/week
Worker?s compensation insurance is provided
Employer sponsored health insurance available
Vacation: five days paid vacation in September or October
Farm produce: as much farm grown produce as the apprentice can use,
including putting up for the winter
Off-farm housing may be available
Training: Access to planning software, documents and records, farmer's
library, farm safety training, tractor operation and maintenance
training, option to participate in eastern Mass CRAFT program
Up to four working visits to area farms
Free admission to all Trustees of Reservations properties, including
nearby Crane Beach.
