Sustainable Food and Farming Work in the Berkshires

I get lots of announcements about employment opportunities for people who have graduated from our Sustainable Food and Farming program at UMass.  For the past year or more, I’ve simply forwarded these to Sustainable Food Jobs, where they were posted.  However something has happened to that page as there have been no updates since July.  I really hope they “go live” again, as they were a terrific resource.

Until that happens however, I’ll try to capture and post jobs that I hear about on this blog page.   Here is one that came in today in Lennox, Mass.

Winthrop Estate

We are looking for a part – time farmer to manage our small yet abundant organic vegetable garden/CSA.  Our current farm manager of three years is moving on and we want to continue growing food here at Winthrop Estate for our guests and neighbors.

We offer luxury accommodations for weddings, family and corporate retreats and serving food grown in our own backyard is a big source of pride and pleasure to us.  We network with local high school students who help to harvest, wash and pack the produce for a CSA endeavor for Lenox residents.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in working with us please pass on this message.  The position would entail about 10 hours of work per week, May through September.  We want someone with experience and expertise growing high quality organic vegetables who can manage people as well.

Sincerely,
Lara Conry
